Jo Stock has been interested in art from a young age. She has belonged to Bargoed & District Art Society since early 1990's and has produced some impressive paintings, many of which have been displayed at outlets across South Wales. For some time now, Jo has been aware of a lack of arts & craft provision in her home town of Nelson. It became her dream to open an art gallery and tea room – a place for local artists to showcase their work and network with other artists, and a place for members of the local community to gather and socialise.

Punctum Photographic is a co-operative of five photographers now working from a unit on the Enterprise Way Industrial Estate in Newport. The five members met initially while studying photography at university, and it was there that the first ideas for the business grew up.

Patricia Clifford, who manages The Art Emporium, along with Adele Goodwin, was a full time art teacher, but had begun to think it was time for a change.

Making jewellery is nothing new for Lisa, but doing it as a full time job is. The idea came to her while she was on maternity leave with her son.

Experia Training is a newly established company in the Merthyr Tydfil area and was established by Martin Williams and currently employs Sarah Anne Davies.

Following years of economic inactivity due to a serious back injury, Ben Price wanted to find a means through which he could become self-employed and eventually make the transition from benefit dependency to financial independency. With lack of capital available to start up and also being dyslexic and being out of the work place for many years, this was going to be a challenge.
